With the creation of digital photography, we see shoots done on conventional film less and less these days.  I wouldn’t say that the use of conventional film is fading away exactly, but more so that it is simply not as exposed {pun intended!} as it used to be.  There are some truly unique qualities that can only be captured on proper film, certain textures, grain, even highlight & shadow details, therefore when you see work on film, its gorgeously different….better.  Fine art photographer {weddings, boudoir, etc} Ken Tan Photography wields conventional film as his medium of choice, into beautiful imagery that has a true ethereal quality.  When Ken sent along this simple yet sophisticated boudoir session, I was immediately in love.  There are so many elegant elements at work here, with one strong unifying theme…. stripped down bare beauty.  The set is simple, demanding no attention, leaving the full focus on our gorgeous gal who in turn, has just the right touch of makeup.  The makeup is an equally important element to the entire vibe, as it too is stripped down, allowing her natural beauty to truly be the star.  Lastly the the lingerie is simple yet still incredibly beautiful and powerful, while her poses are feline, giving off an almost coy demure quality to them.  This boudoir session is indeed art…. captivating, sensual and most certainly a truly pure celebration of the female.

To me, the term sex kitten has 2 variations.  The all dolled up, tight fitting clothes, revealing in all the right places with makeup to perfection version.  Then there is the lighter version, the airy, sweet, still all dolled up, but this one is wrapped in light soft lingerie, hair done juuuuust right, also with the perfect touch of makeup.  The siren if you will!  Katherine Henry Boudoir is back with another absolutely gorgeous boudoir, this time in the form of a sweet 60′s retro sex kitten toying with her feathers.  As with all of Katherine’s shoots, the lighting & framing is stunning and the setup is divine.  The hair & makeup  on our gal is absolutely phenomenal and I adore the simple idea of great lighting, the perfect vintage ‘robe’ {sorry ladies, it was an antique store find with no label!}  and the soft, gently tumbling feathers.  Between the falling plumage and the softly lite bedroom scenario I am left to feel like a voyeur in her daydream as she innocently plays about, calling to all her male suitors!

Most guys will tell you that in truth, there is nothing more sexy then watching the woman they love, while getting ready for a night out.  While men  love to play it tough, in truth they are completely captivated by our sensual ways, the things we do, and steps we take to doll ourselves up.  There is a naturalness, a realness to the routine, that takes on a sexual form all its own.  In Caroline Grace|Boudoir‘s session, we follow along, as a voyeur, in the styling process.  I can easily imagine a man sitting back, watching his woman go through her beautification steps, taking her in,  joyfully exalting her being & her essence.

*A Note About The Inspiration Behind The Shoot

Eutopia Events, a wedding and event design company, created an industrial-meets-vintage look for this boudoir shoot, shot by Dani Fine Photography. The shoot location took place at an old paper mill in Western Massachusetts. The worn paint on the walls and rough and tough appearance was a nice contrast to the soft and sumptuous look of the boudoir style. Through use of props in varying colors, textures, and prints, along with a nod to days-gone-by in the choice of wardrobe, Eutopia Events was able to create a classy, soft and sexy style. Creating a boudoir style can be as individualized as your wedding. The more comfortable you are with the setting, the more your personality and character will show through.

Not every boudoir session needs to be in a sultry hotel room, arm loads of swank gorgeous lingerie within reach with hair & makeup for days.  Sometimes the girl next door, hometown feel good, is just as sexy, if not even more so to most guys!  This simple boudoir shoot highlights just that, the girl next door that a boy secretly crushed on for the better part of his childhood, sweetly done up in her day to day best knickers in a few choice locations.  Nothing terribly over done, just good clean, dare I say wholesome cuteness!  This is the type of shoot that allows the gal to shine for who she really is, not who she has been made up to be.  The sexy way that I venture most guys see us day to day!  I have a feeling this is a session that a lot of guys would love!
