Private Lake Champlain Cottage Wedding With Country Flair & Bright Hues

 358     12.14.2012 8:30 am

Getting married at her parent’s summer cottage, a special place filled with many wonderful childhood memories, was a dream for Rachel Corbett.  When she met Aaron Lavallee, all the right things fell into place & a Lake Champlain wedding was born.  The couple hosted a fete with slight country flair, bright colors & a sweet lab name Fauna in charge of the rings.   After a bit of a lively run down the aisle, Fauna handed over the hardware allowing Rachel & Aaron to make it official.  Rachel personally took on many DIY projects along with the aide of family members & friends.  At the end of the night, Rachel surprised Aaron with a duet of Jackson by Johnny Cash!

Pops of Color {All of them!}- When your trying to decide on the right colors for your wedding, bride’s tend to lean toward a main color or 2, OR venture into palette territory.  However, if you can have one color, why not take them all, right!?  Rachel cleverly wove together more then a handful of nature’s hues, creating tastefully assembled explosions of color.  One could argue that orange was the color that tied it all together, but when set against a supporting cast of greens, blues, yellows, pinks & so much more, why be picky, play with them all!

Country Flair- There are small touches here & there that lend this cottage wedding to a certain country vibe.  I love the mason jar style beverage dispenser (always a plus at weddings!), the nod to a touch of country girl in Rachel’s Frye boots, even the perfectly designed invitations sends along a country vibe.  There is something gorgeously homey yet elevated in all the right places about this Vermont country wedding!

The Fist Pump- I simply can not get enough of the lately raising ‘Heck Ya I Married Her!’ groom celebration shot!!!  Aaron leads the recessional in style, basically celebrating a win on the way off the field.  Nice work Aaron, we approve!

Novella Of The Bride…

Aaron and I met just about 4 years ago over an apres ski beer in Stowe Vermont. We had a mutual friend – she actually wrote and gave a beautiful (and hilarious) speech at our wedding describing us and our meeting.  Aaron works for a ski/sporting goods store in stowe doing e-commerce and is also back in school for a degree in environmentalism and sustainability. I worked in marketing for a handful of years before going back to school three years ago to become a nurse. I now work as a community mental health nurse. We live in Waterbury VT and have a sweet black lab named Fauna and an orange tabby cat named Aphie. Fauna was in our wedding – the cat stayed home. :)

We wanted a casual feel to our wedding – I loved the idea of incorporating vintage elegant touches with a country shabby chic atmosphere. Besides my nursing degree – I also have a degree in art and spent a while working in marketing for apparel and linen companies – I tapped a bit into my creativity to do quite a bit of this wedding DIY. I also utilized my fabulous friend’s creativity and borrowed some amazing pieces (example: the bars made out of antique doors). Aaron and I really didn’t want our wedding to be stuffy – we wanted everyone to feel relaxed and have a really fun time. When I think about where I got the ideas from – really, a lot of it came from my family camp/cottage: a mix of old and new, vintage china, open air, twinkling stars and candlelight flickers, mason jars, and lots of laughs and memories with friends and family. Food and flowers, we wanted to source as locally as possible: almost everything was grown within the state! Our caterer worked with local farms to source – and flowers were either grown in my aunts garden or at a local flower farm.  The location (where we got married) is where my family summer cottage is located. I have spent all my summer’s growing up and enjoying this beautiful place – and it meant so much to me to get married surrounded by all my favorite sights and sounds. My husband also grew up in this town and the family cottage had become one of his favorite places as well.

My parent’s kitchen became a catch all for everything wedding that we collected. My mom, aunts, and I spent quite a bit of time collecting the mismatched china we used. Almost every vendor we used had a personal connection – the justice of the peace was one of my best friend’s father, the band’s lead singer went to high school with me, etc. My friend’s helped me glue buttons onto seating cards, my sister and her husband (as well as my parents, the groom, and wedding coordinator) schlepped around tables and furniture the day before the wedding. Putting on a wedding at a venue that doesn’t come stocked with supplies and employees means that you have to utilize all your friends and family – and try not to break a freshly polished nail while you are hauling a heavy bar across a lawn 20 minutes before your rehearsal dinner!

Brides’s Favorite Moment… The moments that Aaron and I spent taking photos right before the wedding ceremony – It was a very intimate time and the weather made every moment feel surreal and fabulous. I remember suddenly feeling that all my anxiety that had built up had disappeared and just feeling completely elated. Both Aaron and I couldn’t stop smiling. During the end of our ceremony the sun was shining and it started to mist with rain – this was also quite a special moment.

Elevated Texas Country Wedding With All The Trimmings On Cactus Ranch

 343     11.29.2012 1:00 pm

When Sarah Williams & Brooks Williams set out to find the venue for their wedding, they wanted a place that fit who they were like a glove.  The Cactus Ranch was the beauty of a spot that they had hoped for, allowing them to fulfill their dream for an elevated country wedding.  Our beautiful bride allowed her contagious smile to shine, all the while  being the perfect accessory to her country chic wedding day look.  The A-line wedding dress with sweetheart neckline was the perfect choice, while the textured loosely pinned up do & birdcage veil gave her over all style a chic vintage touch.  We’re loving this country wedding gone chic & all the lovely little details that made it happen!

Country Chic Wedding Sparkler Send Off

Country Chic- While its clear this is a country at heart wedding, there are elements to this wedding that land it on the chic side.  The bridal party styling, naturally including our bride & groom as well, is gorgeously put together from choice of attire to hair and makeup.  Every little detail about this wedding is well put together and perfectly polished, the result… Country Chic at its finest!

Emotions- From the emotions on the bridesmaids faces at the ceremony to our grooms Ooooo! face when it was treated to some cake, this wedding isnt skimping on how it shows its feelings!  Our gorgeous bride has a full generous smile & I love that she took every opportunity to show it off!  We love this sweet wedding and how it wears its emotions right on its sleeve!

The Send Off- The sparkler send off is nothing new, but I love the 3 part series of our couple sweet escaping all the while stopping at the end for a stolen moment.  I love the pure enjoyment that is clearly visible on their faces & wish this kind of fun time on all future couples going with this kind of send off!

Novella Of The Bride…

We are both very simple people. We love the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. We both work in the oilfield and are trying to get back to East Texas where the pine trees are. We met a little over two years ago and became good friends. We didn’t want to date at first but quickly became more interested in the idea of a relationship. We were engaged 9 months later on Brooks’ birthday in Gruene TX.  We really are the best of friends. We laugh and love constantly.

We really didn’t have a specific theme. I tried to keep it as simple as possible. The Ranch really didn’t need much work.  We chose this location because it was very secluded. We walked in and knew right away it was perfect. The inside and outside was beautiful. The trees and the scenery were beautiful. It was also perfect because we wanted a place where we could let the entire wedding party stay. The place sleeps 25 people and we got it for the entire weekend. This made it a lot easier to set up and take down. I guess we were going for more of a country chic kind of look. Everyone helped SO much. Family and friends. Everyone pitched in so much. I hardly had to do anything. Almost everything was hand made. My mom and my Mother-in-laws helped make most of the decorations. There isn’t enough room in here to name everyone who helped out!

The whole thing is kind of a blur. We were so busy the whole time. My favorite moment is when we had our first dance. It was the first time since the whole thing started the day before that we were able to just stop everything and actually talk to each other and ‘be alone’. Even though we were up in front of everyone it was like everything just disappeared for those few moments.

Lake Lure North Carolina Country Feel Military Lakeside Wedding

 328     11.09.2012 8:30 am

Forrest Graham & Matthew Kazee’s Lake Lure wedding was an intimate family affair from the start.  Forrest’s parents graciously headed to the house a month early to prepare, while Matthew’s 2 children from a previous marriage hand drew the drawing on their ceremony programs!  Photos of loved ones since passed were framed & used as decor to honor them.  The lake side wedding had elements of country to it with non-matching vintage cake plates, the bridesmaids in cowboy boots, wildflower feel bouquets.  The groom and groomsmen arrived via a pontoon boat, driving up from Chimney Rock where they were getting ready.  Granted I am a big dog lover as most of you know, but I think my favorite part has to be Samson, the couple’s mega cute pup who ultimately found a comfy spot on Forrest’s dress while she was getting ready!  Our good natured bride took it all in strand!  Of course no lake side North Carolina wedding would be complete without some amazing BBQ & Tea with a kick of Beam!  We’re loving the laid back feel & gorgeous calming water views!

Country Chic Does Texas Right In This DIY Wedding Under The Giant Oak Trees

 274     09.24.2012 8:51 am

Start your week off right with a sweet Texas wedding!  Melanie Daniell & Matt Bowling’s wedding under the giant oaks of Texas has a dreamy country feel to it.  The men were outfitted in fresh crisp blue jeans, khaki blazers & naturally cowboy boots & a hat or two!  The gals donned handmade mix matched floral dress by the bride’s mother!  It was of the utmost importance to Melanie that they married outside under the giant sprawling oak trees, to which her dream came true when they discovered Cathedral Oaks Event Center.  A sturdy branch above their ceremony space was outfitted with mums which hung in glass globes in a very Labyrinth (Ps-talking about the movie) way.  Tables were decorated  with a combination of white mums in mason jars and birdhouses with blue wood planter stands to display their personal photos.  I must say however, I am absolutely crushing on the wedding cake!  Rich butter cream frosting that was whipped and styled left to be a star in and of it self!  Delicate pink roses and mums were draped down the side as a finishing touch!  The cake & the wedding is so very country chic!

A Tractor Driven Bridal Party Sets The Tone For A Virginia Country Wedding

 265     09.14.2012 9:31 am

Bright greens & strong violet infused blues create the frame work for this country Virginia wedding.  Libbie Doss & Cord Doss were married on a farm, utilizing the natural surroundings for all  they were worth!  Capitalizing on giant round hay bales, our couple staged these gentle giants into a line, creating a reveal barrier for the ceremony, which was completed with vintage doors to either side of the aisle.  The wedding party was tractor driven, while guests were treated to a Sunday bar later in the evening!
