The thought of having a wedding, surrounded by gorgeous golden yellows, vibrant oranges & fiery reds is the exact reason many couples opt to head to New England for a wedding among the stunning fall foliage.  Vermont, being a state that plays host to some of the most amazing viewing around, is definitely a hot bed when it comes to fall weddings.  When Jenna Shea & Ryan Page planned their wedding day, the vision of such an striking organic backdrop was exactly what they had hoped for.  Unfortunately mother nature had a different idea, raining the day before, forcing the couple indoors on the wedding day.  As things turned out, Jenna & Ryan actually ended up preferring the vaulted barn wedding, feeling even closer to their friends & family at such an important moment in their lives.

What Storyboard Likes…

Foliage Accents- Its safe to say that the gorgeous Mad River Valley, come fall, is one of the more stunning photographic backgrounds for sweet couples marrying in the fall and this couple is now exception.  With the moody sky, the foliage takes on another personality, yet still showing off its wide range of colors.  Smartly so, Jenna & Ryan sampled similar tones for their florals, really bringing home that warm fall feeling.

The Best Lil Red Barn- I am playing favorites here, but trust me, The Skinner Barn earns it all on their own.  Little known fact, this is actually the venue that we got married in!  Literally from the moment we drove up to The Skinner Barn for a possible venue visit, we knew we found ‘The One’.  Peter Boynton {current owner} works hard to constantly preserve & improve upon this historic dairy barn originally built in 1891 by the Daniel Skinner family.  The farm is perfectly located in the Mad River Valley in a low key area allowing for your day to truly feel secluded and all your own.  This place is simply beyond!

Savvy Style- Jenna & Ryan really are the picture of the perfect bride & groom.  Jenna’s dress choice, perfectly understand with birdcage veil & fascinator does wonders to bring to life a sweet New England bride.  Ryan’s look is perfectly dapper, opting for a light beige suit with black bow tie accent.  The result is a modern couple with a slight nod to the old school.

With the stunning colors of autumn foliage just about behind us, let’s hang onto those bright yellows & oranges for just a moment longer!  This styled shoot is a gorgeous affair fit for a princess bride!  The bridal style for today’s shoot is stunning, opting for a stunning multi-tiered gown with just the right amount of princess feel without going overboard.  Our bride’s look was finished off with an amazing jeweled headpiece with a go big or go home attitude.  The reception styled needed to compliment our bride’s grand look, utilizing 2 dynamic color wheel faves, Blue & Orange with an earth Brown to ground everything.  Setting up a lovely gently worn farmer table, the team created a world of whimsy playfully opting for wedgeware plates with gold chargers & parrot tulips at select place settings to greet the guests.  The choice of using parrot tulips is absolutely divine in this case, as the ruffled frayed edges of these orange beauties perfectly compliment the show piece table runner.  I simply can not get enough of floor length table runners & this fall foliage version is no exception!  This full leaf runner is tie that brings it all together.  Matching the grandeur of our princess bride, the runner offers a bit of outdoors, in, while injecting some much needed whimsy into the day!   This magical styled shoot is a true autumn delight & inspiration for future fall time brides!

After that we headed to their land to do a beautiful tent themed engagement session. So what better place to say I DO than their land. This fall wedding was filled with beautiful light,beautiful flowers and a stunning bride and groom.”

Novella Of The Bride…

Darrell and I met in 2007 at work, and started dating immediately. We moved in together 5 months later, and then took off and traveled around Europe for a few months. We then came home and renovated our house, and Darrell went back to work, while I stayed home.  Since then, we have bought land that we plan to move to someday (where we had our wedding ceremony) and try and travel as much as possible.  We got engaged in December 2011.

Our overall theme for the wedding was “Fall”.  We really wanted lots of fall colors, rather than one specific wedding color. Some of the special touches we included in our day were having the ceremony at our land (also where we got engaged), a table of remembrance at our ceremony honoring deceased relatives, I had a man of honor and no bridesmaids, and Darrell had just a best man, no other groomsmen. We had a candy buffet at the reception, as well as basket of flip-flops for the ladies to wear to dance in.  At the ceremony, we also had pashminas for all the ladies to take in case they got chilly, and as a keepsake. Our wedding favors were hockey pucks, since we both love hockey.

My mom, Lynn Gallimore, helped us plan the whole thing. My cousins, Chrissy Gallimore and Susan Russell, as well as my Aunt, Brenda Lamoureux, helped do everything from making the invitations and programs, to setting up the reception hall the morning of and making sure everything went smooth. Darrell’s sister in law, Charmion Goretzki, helped with the invites, and my dress, as well as a ton of other things throughout the process. My friend, Jen Anderson, did my hair and also helped out with the invites and picking my dress. My cousins, Brian Gallimore and Steve Russell, got to the ceremony early and helped seat everyone and get everything done there. Darrells friends and brothers (Jon Goretzki, Mike Goretzki, Mark Bucci, Keith Pulles, Guber) helped park cars at the ceremony, and then Mike and Jon MC’d the reception, and Guber did a reading at the ceremony. Brian Venables, a close family friend, conducted our ceremony.

We chose to have the ceremony on our land because it is such an important place to us.  We plan on building our dream home out there, and so it seemed fitting to start this next phase of our life together there. It was also where we got engaged.  My favorite moment of the wedding was getting out of the car and seeing Darrell waiting for me at the end of the aisle.  I couldn’t wait to be married to him!

When it came time for Claire Inskeep & Joe Saphire to plan their perfect wedding day,  a lake side wedding in the gorgeous New England fall was the perfect setting.  Wanting something  more unique, and true to their style, our couple opted for a lake side wedding where our bride arrived on a canoe!  This Vermont gem featured burlap runners, pine needle aisle, & dried herb escort cards just to name a few of the key elements that came together to highlight this gorgeous organic delight of a wedding day!

What Storyboard Likes…

The Transportation- How can you not love a bride that foregoes conventional transportation for a self manned canoe that lands softly to shore!  We love how our couple truly embraced all aspects that is the stunning Vermont wilderness, injecting a sense of calm as our bride gliding along the water!

The Food- I know know, you dont see any food in the feature, so hum whaa?  Its OK, I am completely playing favorites here and I am good with that!  Catering by Dale was actually our carter for our wedding, so naturally, we’re prone to shout her praises when we can!!  Dale is a delight to work with, her staff amazing & the best part….?  THE FOOD!  Dale’s food is absolutely scrumptious & I am sure that Claire & Joe think so too!

The Flare- We love everything about our bride & groom’s style from the bride’s sleek fitting Nicole Miller wedding dress to our groom’s suit of choice, which by our eye, has a nice natural tweed to it which compliments the natural surroundings…beautifully!  As if the style of our bride & groom wasnt enough, we are madly in love with their floral choices, truly capturing that Vermont wild flower feel in each uniquely different bridesmaid bouquet!

Fall weddings naturally offer their own unique color palette which is a big part of the reason a lot of couples choose to get married this time of year.  Shila Wells & Brad Sylvester wanted to surround themselves in naturals colors, opting for a lovely wedding at the Barns at Lang Farm in Essex, Vermont.  Our couple cleverly choose a soft gold as one of the main colors, naturally complimenting the already lively palette around them.  Working with natural items, everything from birch logs to sparkly orange glittered up mini pumpkins added to the decor while the wedding cake as fashioned to mirror that of a birch tree itself!  Embracing mother nature, Shila & Brad had a lovely wedding with fall on display!
