When this lil gem of a boudoir session gone beauty shot fell into my lap I quickly grew excited as I realized that our lovely model, Alex, was also the skilled makeup artist behind the session!  So often we feature looks that are stunning but leave people clueless about how to achieve them.  I figured this was a great opportunity to not only show case a gorgeous session but to go that extra step & give you the tools you need to rock the look your after!

Before we dive into the covet worthy session & stellar looks, let’s learn a bit about our model & artist, Alex Evans!  Alex is a makeup artist based out of the Central Coast of California focusing on all ranges of makeup styles from basic beauty to high fashion. Her passion for makeup artistry was sparked when she got her first Barbie computer game at the age of 6!  She teamed up with [a.w. photography] for a boudoir photo session as she has always been fascinated by the vintage 1940’s style & wanted to have the opportunity to play!

For the purposes of this shoot, our gal crafted 2 distinct looks with a simple change of the lips!  Eye Catching Innocent & Russian Red Vixen are both equally strong looks with 2 very different feels.  These 2 styles are perfect not only for a boudoir session, but for engagement photos AND wedding day!

How To Achieve Our Eye Catching Innocent Look:

To score this vintage Hollywood glam winged eye look, Alex recommends using light eye shadow, neutral colors work best. In this shoot Alex used “Brule” & “Texture” by MAC.

Using Alex’s favorite gel eyeliner, she skillfully glided “Blacktrack” by MAC along her upper eyelid using MAC’s 210 brush to perfect the sculpting of those winged eyes. The beauty of this MAC gel liner is that it’s a water resistant gel that goes on easily and stays on all day. {SBW Note: I use MAC’s gel liners myself as I have contacts & cant risk makeup getting into my eyes.  Its hands down the BEST gel liner I have ever had the pleasure of using & highly recommend it to everyone!  The consistency makes it a dream to apply & as a result it doesn’t go rogue on your eyelid!  It also has stood the test of time again and again for me, this baby stays on allllll daaaay looong!}

To keep this look sweet and innocent, Alex made her lips light and soft choosing ‘Snob’ by MAC. The color choice for the innocent look is perfection as its puts just the right amount of pink in place without taking focus from the eyes. Alex also applied the lipstick using a brush, this way the lipstick wouldn’t be so opaque!

Lastly, the cheeks should be light as well as the focus for this look is on the lips.  Alex contoured her cheeks using “Blunt” by MAC, then following up with “Pink Swoon” by MAC on the apples of my cheeks to give that perfect pinch of color et voilà!

How To Achieve Our Russian Red Vixen Look:

The basis for this look is same as noted above in Eye Catching Innocent Look, however the drama here is the lips!  To get these lust worthy dripping lips:

Using a deep red, Alex used “Vino” liner with “Russian Red” lipstick by MAC. She fully lined her lips, then feathering the liner inward on the corners of her mouth creating more of a pouty look.  Alex then applied the lipstick only in the center of her lips.  Applying lipstick only to the center will give the appearance of fuller lips{A beauty secret all women covet!}!  For the perfect finishing touch to her luscious lips, she tapped clear gloss on top creating that dreamy dewy look!
