Rounding out the week is the super sweet Japanese themed wedding of Kathy McDonald & Deas Richardson in Charleston, South Carolina!

Japanese-studies majors Kathy and Deas quickly became college sweethearts before moving to Japan to teach. It was in Japan that their love blossomed and Deas proposed! Because Japanese culture has played such an important role in their lives and relationship, Kathy and Deas did an elegant Japanese theme for their (rainy day!) wedding. Cherry blossoms accentuated pale pink centerpieces on tables marked with woodcuts featuring English on one side and Japanese on the other. The bride and groom sat beneath their own specially woodcut Mrs./Mr. signs, which also featured traditional Japanese symbols, and guests dined with bamboo cutlery and plates. The cake, also featuring a delicate cherry blossom motif, was topped with traditional Japanese dolls, and traditional Japanese engagement origami decorated tables. Kathy’s girls carried fans down the aisle in place of bouquets, and perhaps the sweetest detail of the wedding (other than Kathy’s hot pink wedding rain boots) was the wall hanging of classic Japanese origami cranes… made by Kathy’s students as a farewell present!

The desert makes for a pretty amazing setting to start off with.  Toss in a stunning oasis like the JW Marriott Camelback Inn and you find a playground for weddings.  Staci Fischer & Jason Shoudis celebrated their day in elegant style with Merlot hued bridesmaid dresses, wine cork guest book, and simple elegant touches along the way.   A classic and truly lovely desert wedding from the ever amazing Scottsdale, Arizona!

This engagement shoot couldn’t possibly be more perfect for our sadly winding down summer season!  Maryse & Chad opted to take their engagement session into the lovely flower adorned strawberry fields of Lisa’s Strawberry Farm in Chelmsford, Ontario.  The idea is simple & sweet, loving & laughter.  The couple brought their pup, snacked on some tasty treats and… well let’s just say, a VERY special, very surprise guest made an appearance!  Our ‘lil’ guest is quite the cutie, though I must say, had I been there, I might have been keeping a nervous eye in his direction!  Priceless!  What a great way to round out our summer!

*SBW Note-That’s right guys, a completely adorable, albeit a bit intimidating, black bear {cub?} decided he wanted to get his 15 minutes on!  How cute is this lil guy?!

Weather is possibly one of the most stress worthy elements to planning a wedding.  Being at the mercy of mother nature herself,  each couple does the best that they can with the weather cards that they are dealt.  Jenna Steele & Sean Hunt’s Lewisburg, West Virginia wedding was very much at nature’s mercy, raining off and on throughout the day.  In one of life’s funny little quarks, just as soon as they made the decision to move the wedding inside, the skies parted, allowing the outdoor ceremony to still take place.  The Swift Level Farm provided an awesome backdrop with the couple adding touches of yellow & gray, working with the vintage rustic feel of the farm’s grounds.  One special thing about weather however, is that it makes for some pretty amazing photographs as you can see in the 2 panoramics were a breathtaking sunset occurred, complete with fog coming in from a nearby creek!

I am feeling a touch nostalgic today as Caroline Colditz & Zachary Dillard has me feeling the 1950′s all over again!  Love our brides style, from the throwback feel frock, a 1950′s style cocktail length gown in ivory with protruding lace just below the hemline to her perfectly styled makeup and birdcage veil!  Pinks & greens were used to compliment the garden setting while family & friends helped the couple collect the adorable glass animals that adorned their table tops.  Setting  up a clever vintage vanity station, guest were able to use props, take Polaroids of themselves, giving a real creative forum to the guest book!  The perfect finishing touch to this retro wedding was of course a stunning classic red roadster!
